Day 5 (6) Tomb of the Virgin Mary

Tomb of the Virgin Mary
Then we walked to the Church over the tomb of the Virgin Mary.
On the foothills of Mount of Olives, in the valley of Jehoshaphat, is a Crusader church said to mark the Tomb of the Virgin Mary, the mother of Jesus (As per non Catholic tradition). Centered around a quarried-out tomb that may well date from the first century, the cave church is festooned with hanging lamps and highly atmospheric. The church is cut into the rock and has a form of a cross, with a wide staircase leading down into the church and tomb.
